Kiting
Attacking while moving so you deal damage without taking it.
Kiting means continuously attacking a pursuer while walking or dashing away, so the kiter's attack range and basic-attack-cancel timing keep them just out of a melee hero's reach. Marksmen like Claude or Moskov, who can attack while moving via their passives, kite naturally; others rely on animation-cancel timing plus items and battle spells to keep distance. Kiting is what separates a marksman who survives a dive from one who gets caught and deleted in two hits.
