Lapu-Lapu — hero art from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Lapu-Lapu

CTier

Exp-lane fighter who leaps in and switches to a damage-reducing heavy sword

FighterEXP LaneDeals physical

Lapu-Lapu is an exp-lane fighter whose Homeland Defender passive builds a shield and an enhanced dash attack from ordinary combat, no cooldown tracking required. Bravest Fighter leaps onto a group, slows them by 60%, and puts him into Heavy Sword Stance, where Jungle Warrior becomes Storm Sword — a wide whirl that hands him 20% damage reduction plus another 8% for every extra enemy hero it catches.

The kit is mostly straightforward — the real decision is when to spend Bravest Fighter, since the same cast is both his engage and his only way into Heavy Sword Stance.

Strengths

  • Homeland Defender's shield and enhanced dash attack trigger for free from normal combat, no cooldown tracking needed
  • Storm Sword's whirl grants 20% damage reduction for 3 seconds, plus another 8% for every extra enemy hero it hits
  • Bravest Fighter is a leap, a 60% slow for a full second, and the switch into Heavy Sword Stance in one cast
  • Justice Blades' twin boomerangs hit on the way out and the way back, doubling wave-clear and poke value from one cast

Weaknesses

  • No hard crowd control anywhere in the kit — Bravest Fighter's 60% slow is the only thing stopping a target from walking away
  • Storm Sword's damage reduction only exists in Heavy Sword Stance, so spending Bravest Fighter early leaves him without it when the real fight starts
  • No ranged poke, and only Jungle Warrior's short dash between ultimate leaps, so kiting compositions can deny him before a fight starts
  • Bravery Blessing has to be earned through combat, so he starts every fight without his shield already up

Skills

Max Justice Blades first for the poke and wave clear, level Jungle Warrior for the dash and Storm Sword uptime, and take the ultimate at levels 4, 8 and 12.

Passive

Homeland Defender

BuffShield

Each time Lapu-Lapu deals damage, he gains 10 Bravery Blessing (halved from non-hero units). When his Bravery Blessing is full, his next Basic Attack or Justice Blades will be enhanced, granting Lapu-Lapu a shield that can absorb 250 (+65 × Hero Level) damage for 2.5 seconds. The enhanced Basic Attack) will cause him to dash toward the target, dealing (+150% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage. This Basic Attack cannot be a critical hit.

Lapu-Lapu's second skill changes with his stance. In his default Twin Blades stance it is a forward dash attack; after his ultimate puts him in Heavy Sword Stance, it becomes a wide swing that grants damage reduction instead.

Default (Twin Blades)Jungle Warrior

Lapu-Lapu dashes in the target direction, slashing with his twin blades and dealing 100 (+50% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage to enemies along the way. Hitting enemies builds his passive Bravery Blessing.

Heavy Sword StanceStorm Sword

Duo partners whose kit completes this one.

Playing Lapu-Lapu well

  1. 1

Land basic attacks or Justice Blades hits before committing to a fight so Bravery Blessing is charged when it matters

  2. 2

Only whirl Storm Sword where it catches more than one hero — each extra enemy hero adds another 8% damage reduction on top of the base 20%

  3. 3

Time Bravest Fighter's leap for the moment a fight actually starts, not as a poke tool — it is both his engage and his only way into Heavy Sword Stance

  4. 4

Once Heavy Sword Stance is up, wade into the cluster instead of chasing a straggler — Storm Sword pays out per hero it hits

Lapu-Lapu — common questions

Is Lapu-Lapu good for beginners?

Yes — his kit is straightforward, with Homeland Defender's shield triggering automatically from normal combat and Bravest Fighter's leap being the main timing decision to learn.

What is the best build for Lapu-Lapu?

Warrior Boots into Blade of the Heptaseas, Hunter Strike and Queen's Wings covers the standard bruiser build, shifting into a full tank line with Dominance Ice and Brute Force Breastplate when the team needs him purely as frontline.

Which heroes counter Lapu-Lapu?

Kaja, Esmeralda, Karrie and X.Borg are the hardest counters since they can suppress him, eat his shield, or cut through the damage reduction Storm Sword grants, while Fanny, Harith, Franco, Claude, Wanwan and Xavier all deny his engage in softer ways.

What does Lapu-Lapu's ultimate do?

Bravest Fighter has him leap to a location, deal damage on landing and slow everyone hit by 60% for a second, then enter Heavy Sword Stance — which turns Jungle Warrior into Storm Sword, a wide whirl granting 20% damage reduction for 3 seconds plus 8% more for each extra enemy hero it hits.
